Bhagawan, the creator of the universe has given Sastra (Scriptures) to show us how to lead a human life. Just as ignorance about traffic rules can't be taken as an exception for wrong driving, ignorance of Sastra won't be considered as an exception for skipping one's own duties.

Bhagawan has given us Ithihasa Puranas to explain Vedas and Acharyas too to give us the essence of scriptures with pramanam through their upadesams.
