The Skinny Title
KARMA YOGA
By nature’s law, this human form of life is specifically meant for self-realization, in either of the three ways – namely karma-yoga, jñāna-yoga or bhakti-yoga.

Varnasrama Dharma
Karma differs for everyone depending on the varna Brahmana, Kshatriya, Vaisya, or Shudra and Asrama Brahmachari, Gruhasta, Vanaprasta or Sanyasi. Unless we know all this is just a bodily matter, not affecting Jivatma and Jivatma has to act according to the directions given by the Veda, we won't perform our prescribed duties at all.
Atma Gnana is just basic knowledge. It is not an in-depth knowledge but just an overall view, birds-eye view of what a Jivatma is. With such basic knowledge, one has to start performing duties. This will lead to Atma sakshatkara which is the absolute knowledge about Jivatma. We will be able to see all the characteristics of the Jivatma.

Karma yoga
All the works we do including attending office can also be considered as karma yoga to an extent. But there must be three strings attached to performing prescribed duties. Those three sacrifices are very very important. Those are known as Kartrutva budhi tyaga, Mamata tyaga, and Pala tyaga.
-
Do your duty. But don't assume that you are the doer.
-
Don't think that this duty and the result belong to you but to Him.
-
Do anything but not for any objective other than Atma sakshatkara. Abandon all other fruits.
Karma yoga is a performance. We have to do what we need to do. But these three strings should be attached to it. A karma yogi never differentiates between Pain and Pleasure, Gain and Loss, Victory.
