Kaliyuga Dharmam

Purpose of Precious Human Birth

The goal of any Jeevathma is to get out of this cycle of birth and death and reach salvation. Other goals like material wealth are quite mean when compared to the eternal bliss of enjoying the divine and sweet attributes of Brahmam.

It is a pity that the enormous power and wisdom of the Atman gets covered during the deluge, making it impossible to practice any path for salvation. Sriman Narayanan, the abode of compassion, blesses the Jeeva with a body. We are expected to use the mind and intellect for making the right decision. On the contrary, the atman gets dragged into a sense of organs and forgets the purpose of creation. Hence, the almighty also created Vedas. He expects the Jeeva to use the Vedhas as the guiding light to reach salvation. Then, He took Incarnations to teach us the essence of Vedas.

Then He sent Azhwars and gave them various experiences to make them tell their Bhagavadanubhavam as upadesam in their paasurams. Then He created Guru Parampara Haaram (Starting from Sriman Narayana to Present-day Acharyas) out of grace, mainly to show us the right path in Kali-yuga, where, chances are more for us to get distracted and settled in temporary worldly desires alone forgetting the purpose of precious human birth.

We all should resolve:

  • My Goal is very very supreme

  • I am not going to settle to mean objectives at all

  • I am not going to settle to material pleasures alone

  • I am here to achieve something higher and higher

  • I have the power to achieve that

The sole purpose of creation is, to get rid of our karmas and eventually end the cycle of vicious birth and death,   to reach Srivaikundam, enjoy eternal bliss with Him.

How Does God Show His Love

  1. Gods mercy is  a very clear indication of his love for us

  2. He lives in the divine company of his consorts in Paramapadham – Sri Vaikuntham

  3. For us to be able to reach him, he then took abode in the               - Ocean of Milk

  4. Willing to reside amongst us, he took numerous incarnations like Varaha, Rama, Krishna, and others - Incarnations

  5. He also took the form of idols and entered temples - Archa Rupam

  6. He also comes to each and every one of our houses - Baby Krishna during Janmashtami

  7. Still feeling the separation, he entered into our hearts, always waiting for us to realise His presence to show us the right path.

Incarnations (Purpose and Learnings)

Kruta Yuga Avatarams

Matsya : For saving Scriptures, the Pramanams through which only, one can know the truth - Veda Samrakshanam. Protecting the seed of creation at the time of the dissolution of the universe (pralaya). This is preserved at the time of every dissolution of the universe by the fish incarnation. The universe is then recreated from that seed by the next tortoise incarnation, Kurma.

Just as a fish swims against the stream of a river, that is towards its origin so also a seeker should go to his place of origin, that is, to the Supreme God. This is what It teaches us. Focus on learning. Just like fish coming to the surface of the water for a break, the entertainment should be only as a break and main focus should be on Duties.

Kurma :  ‘Assuming the form of a tortoise Prajapati created progeny. This was His duty (karma). His name Kurma was later derived from the word karma.  From this, one will realize that the mission in the tortoise form was basically that of Prajapati. He helped in churning the Ocean of Milk to obtain Treasures, mainly Sri Mahalakshmi to help us reaching Bhagawan.

Be Patient and Confident. Just as the tortoise withdraws its four limbs, head and tail into its shell so also one should control senses to avoid distractions

Varaha : A demon called Hiranyaksha abducted the earth and took it to the bottom of the ocean. Vishnu then assumed the form of a boar, retrieved the earth (Booma Devi) from the ocean with Its tusks. Booma Devi, out of grace, asked Varaha Peruman for Upayam to save people, us. Then, Booma Devi took Andal Avataram in Kali yuga and conveyed, what she heard from Varaha Peruman in Thiruppavai.

Unity, No Preferences. Like a boar that can walk on dry land as well as slush, we need to adjust ourselves to the environment. Varaha is a one tusked wild boar. The boar does not accept defeat even at the cost of its life. Similarly, a seeker too should not give up the spiritual practice even if on the verge of death when doing so.

Narasimha : When the demon Hiranyakashibu, challenged his son Bhakta Prahlada, Vishnu emerged in the form of a man-lion known as Narasimha to slay the demon. Hiranyakashipu signifies ignorance. Narasimha slew him by tearing open his abdomen thus liberating the embodied soul situated in the chakra of spiritual energy (kundalini) at the level of the navel.

Be Brave. The Lord will protect his devotees from all evils. Such is the love of the Lord for His devotees, He may forgive those who offend Him but not those who offend his devotees

Treta Yuga Avatarams

Vamana, Trivikrama :  Vamana (the dwarf) appears when the demon king Bali ruled the universe and the gods lost their power. One day, Vamana visited the court of Bali and begged for as much land as he could cover in three steps. Laughing at the dwarf, Bali granted the wish. The dwarf then assumed the form of a giant. He took the whole earth with the first step and the entire middle world with the second step. With the third step, Vamana sent Bali down to rule the underworld.

Conserve Energy and Time, If we save our energy (talking, listening, seeing ) without wasting those in unnecessary matters, our energy can be well utilized when needed. We should not judge others by their looks.

Parashurama :  Vishnu appears as a priest (Brahman) who comes to the world to kill bad kings and protect humanity from danger. He appears in the form of a man carrying an ax, sometimes referred to as Rama with an ax.

Obedience to Father, We should not get angry

RamaMajor deity of Hinduism. He is the central figure of the ancient Hindu epic "Ramayana" and is known as King of Ayodhya, Rama's birthplace. Vishnu took Rama Avataram to do battle with the multi-headed demon RavanaRama is often depicted with blue skin, standing with a bow and arrow.

Listen to Parents, Be Patient, Be Kind to Others, Always tell the Truth, Never tell a lie even for small reasons, Be Trustworthy and Act according to Dharma. Bhagawan, in Rama Avatara, wanted to show by living whatever He is going to advise in the following Dwapara yuga as Krishna in Bhagavad Geetha. He also conveyed "whatever we advise to others should be followed by us first".

Dwapara Yuga Avatarams

Balarama : When Vishnu took avatar as Krishna,

Sheshnaag took avatar as Balaram. In his previous incarnation or avatar, Vishnu was elder brother Ram and Sheshnaag was Laxman.

Be Strong, Do Regular Exercise, Have nutritious food

Krishna : Krishna being an absolute incarnation (Purnavtar) is not referred to as an incarnation but as Lord Vishnu Himself who has assumed an incarnation.

Be a good Friend, Help others, Treat everybody equal, Raise voice against adharmam, Try your best for doing something for Dharma Rakshanam.

Kali Yuga Avataram:

Kalki : ‘He is the tenth or twenty-first incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He will be born at the end of the Kaliyug to a Brahman named Vishnuyashas in the village Shambal of Kikat. His lineage (gotra) will be Parashar.

He will embark on the conquest of the earth on His horse named Devdatta. He will destroy the evil and unrighteous and reinstate Dharmacharan">Righteousness (Dharma). He will destroy His enemies, the evildoers and rule the world. The priest Yadnyavalkya will assist Him in this mission and finally, at the age of twenty-five, He will renounce His body at the confluence of the rivers Ganga and Yamuna. The Bhavishya Kalki Puran predicts that after this the Krutyug (Satyayug) will commence.

God will save good people and destroy evil.
